I'd love this to happen. Especially if we could have Brain Blessed standing on deck bellowing and flogging them with a cat-o-nine-tails.

Three episodes in, this show is the bestest I've seen in ages. I like the Northwestern with Captain Sig best. 'Can do' kid Bradford Davis is still my fave crew member. Also, despite my concern, I can't help but slightly chuckle at Lucky Lady's 'man overboard!' and 'Shit! My ankle!' Kevin's bad luck. Does that make me bad? ("Yes," - ed.)

The one on channel 4 was the first in some series (I hadn't seen it before but I only saw three on Discovery before so it could be old). It has some Scottish guy narrating. :attitude:

Haha! Everyone loves the Northwestern. They did a 3 programme special of "The Deadliest Season" before Deadliest Catch started which documented, in part, Kevin's first greenhorn season when he went overboard and was VERY lucky to survive.

Heh, wouldn't mind getting that as well then.

My second fave boat is the plucky 'Little Lady' piloted by the guy who looks a bit like Wash, and the third fave is Lady Alaska (?) with the husband and wife team of Rick and Donna.

Bit of gut puncher that episode five though, with the Big Valley et al. Certainly a qualifier for the "Aw man" thread. Seeing Donna react was a bit moving too.

This programme is tops, certainly up there with Ice Truckers. I want a ridiculously heroic job in the Arctic just like these guys!

Ice Road Truckers was bloody great*. That Rick was an arse, but you couldn't blame him for being an arse.

* Apart from the repeated use of certain shots (like falling through the ice) and the recap of something that had happened two minutes before. Cut that out and the series would be two episodes shorter.

Much to my surprise, I came to the same conclusion. Watched loads of episodes very late at night in a motel in the colony of Virginia.

New series has started and is available from your torrent site of choice. For anybody that's interested, like.

Just got around to watching episode 3 last night. Terrible scenes when a boat went down.

Everybody should see the series that's on at the moment. Poor Phil Harris :( Such a good programme.

I never watched beyond season one for fear of it becoming less excellent, which is a belmish reaction I have to a show I'm enjoying. I clearly should have kept watching.

First off, should I watch each season in turn on DVD?

Secondly, by this do you mean that another Deadliest Catcher has either gone broke and bust or gone down with his ship? Oh man! :(

Thinking slightly drunkenly of 'Captains Courageous' again.

I'd watch them in sequence just to get to know the Captains and crew better. It's just got better and better Pete, you can't go wrong. Phil Harris was the captain of the Cornelia Marie. While offloading at St Paul's Island during the last series he suffered a massive stroke. He survived that and made incredible strides in recovering from it, but three days later suffered another which he didn't survive. Really really heartbreaking stuff.

:(

Will get series two and work my way along, and let you know how I find it. This is the only reality TV I like, because the people are genuinely worth knowing.

Glad they've stuck with the Seabrooke. Junior's excellent entertainment.

What, just not in it anymore due to Phil's death or has something else happened?

I used to watch Deadliest Catch almost religiously in my last place, but I can only have Freeview in the current flat (listed building, not allowed satellite dishes or cable installations). Is Deadliest Catch on Netflix does anyone know?

12 months later....

Yes, last season Josh and Junkie couldn't afford to fish the boat. Josh went to work on the Time Bandit, and Junkie made an arse of his drugged self on the Northwestern.

This season it looks as if Josh has secured funding and will be the captain on the Cornelia. He wasn't in the first episode, but the talking heads at the start of the programme hint towards this.

Ah, apologies sir, I wasn't checking Beex much 12 months ago.

'Tis a shame as I did like me a bit of Deadliest Catch. I got quite upset with Phil's death.

It wasn't pleasant to watch.

They've really hit a groove over the last 3 seasons. They've kept with the same boats throughout, so we know their stories now. Much goodness.
