Silly MrD! Clicks are for kids! You want to just tap the side of the bongos. Yes, as simple as that. Just give 'em a little pat.

How's that supposed to put the other players off?

I can't think of a way to work a polite tap into a grandiose gesture either. :(

You use your cock to do the tapping.

As others have noted it's much easier to tap the side of the bongos. Actually I play with the pair of bongos cradled under my left arm, play both left and right notes with my right hand (using the thumb and little finger), and rapping on the bongo with my left hand for the clap.

Wowza. I guess I must be the only person who plays it while kneeling hunched over the bongos, waving my hands around the place and clicking like some demented sorceror throwing ingredients into a cauldron or casting spells at fools.

I play on the floor, crosslegged with the bongos held in my crossed legs. I tap the side of the bongos to clap, also (I can't click my fingers...)

Squeezed between my knees. And I always clap because that's the most fun.

Also - every time I'll see any of you online playing Rock Band then I'll die a little inside, you lucky fucks.

ooo few days to go, been procrascinating from uni work again and have just watched lost and studied the downloadable tracks to see which ones ill 'need' when it finally comes.

ones that caught my eye

the clash - train in vain
david bowie - heroes
david bowie - queen bitch
T rex - bang a gong
the knack - my sharona
weezer- buddy holly
and the mother fucking monkees - last train to clarksville

also seen the pixies-doolittle album is coming out, although id prefer to pick 3 or 4 songs off it than spend a whole load of point son the whole album.

It's all about Simple Man, man. Does sir like his boogie Southern fried?

Oh, and the Oasis pack looks excellent. Live Forever is just the perfect Rock Band song.

These are the same songs that caugt my eye when I had a look at the downloadable list a few days ago.

I wish there were a few more female-vocalled songs, though, as I know from Singstar that I find them the easiest to get the top ranking on.

At least in good Harmonix tradition, there's a Freezepop track on there - 'Brain Power' isn't the greatest track from their latest album though.

Well, I have been charged by play.com so I guess that's it now. I have invited my sister over for a bit of a rock-a-thon at the weekend if it all arrives as she plays guitar hero every day.

Yup.

Both orders stood at 'pre-ordered' for ages, then the instruments went to 'order placed' before 'processing' the next day. Once it changes to 'order placed' I think it mean that the process is underway. They probably want to get a head start on packaging up all those big boxes.

I'm looking forward to this game more than any other ever, I think. Well, maybe Animal Crossing Wii, but that has never been close enough on the horizon for me to think that it actually might happen some time soon.

Animal Crossing Wiiiiiiiiiii :munkeh:

Same here, re: order status and looking forward to more than any game ever. I've just let my wife know that if the game doesn't show up on time I'm going out to buy it then sending Play's copy back. She looked suitably impressed.

Yelp! Me too! Game is still processing though. That's probably coming Royal Mail signed for rather than the Parcel Force they are using for the instruments.

I don't think they'll despatch the game until Thursday. I wouldn't worry about that, Rodafowa - everyone's account is showing that same thing.

But, but, but, Play are in the Channel Islands, aren't they? If it's going to get here for Friday it probably needs to go out tomorrow at the latest.

Jesus. This game appears to have made me nine years old again. Is it here yet? Is it here yet? Is it here yet?

Just two, just two!

Although, saying that, I think delivery on the instruments says 3-5 days (if you bought from Play.com), which, if posted yesterday, could mean them coming after the (extended bank Holiday) weekend, so you just have to hope that they come on Friday or Saturday.

I will make you a guitar out of a biscuit tin and a broom...

I think it all comes down to the drums. If you can live without the drums and have a 360 guitar for Guitar Hero III and a headset* or alternative usb mic** then it will only set you back the £40 for the game itself, but can you live without the drums? Can you?!

See, I think part of hoping to get it much cheaper is that I don't think that the Guitar Hero games lose much of their value when up for re-sale in pre-owned sections of shops - they are usually £60-65 anyway, which makes me wonder if this will depreciate in value to a level that you want and I think that scarcity might knock the prices up further for a while.

*So I am led to believe by reading this thread

** Again :this:

I've got rock band ("imported" - Ed) on my PS2 so I can play the guitar stuff on that and have done. I ONLY WANT THE DRUMS.

The Guitar Hero games certainly don't seem to have lost any value so maybe Rock Band won't. I'm still not going to buy it unless I can manage to get the lot for £120 or less. I'll happily do without it until I can.

I hadn't realised there was a Metallica track pack - I would imagine that '...And Justice for All' would work pretty well, particularly on drums.

The bass would certainly be easy, you wouldn't have to even touch the instrument.

One is, to my mind, the best track in GH3. The DLC I'm most excited about for Rock Band is the Oasis pack though -- I don't particularly like Oasis, but those tracks are such well-known anthems that I think they'll go down a storm at parties.

I've noticed that a few times now - people keep posting 'look at this' and there is a blank space underneath - is it supposed to be a Youtube video in that spot, Nirejhenge? Neither of my browsers seem to be able to fathom it on either computer.

Yes it is meant to be a youtube video. I'm sure I've used the right formatting here but it doesn't show on mine either..

Sorted now. Has someone changed the way the youtube link works?

I used the full http.. link but it seems you should just put the video number in which IS WRONG AND TIME CONSUMING.

Can someone change it to be the full url instead? That way you can just happily cut and paste the URL.

Which is bizarre, seeing as UCHOOB is supposed to be blocked at my work.
