But is this a list of the best games ever, or the best game series ever? It's a tough one. Games like Civ I & II and Outrun 2/C2C/OA are similar enough to group together as they don't do much different. The two MI games although sharing the same engine tell a different story and that's one of the integral parts of a graphic adventure. Y'know, the adventure bit.

We can talk about Final Fantasy as well, now it's here. People did vote for FFIX and FFIII as well, but should those have been added to the FFVII score? I'm not sure, as FFVII got so many more votes than the others put together, wouldn't grouping them together dilute the influence and popularity that it has?

A quick look at my top 10 shows that almost everything has been covered in one way or another. Therefore the number one game has to be Pilotwings.

I have two in the top 50. So unless the victor is Windows Solitaire, I think I should start playing more games.

Indeed it was. Took everything that was good about WEC Le Mans and made it better. It is WEC Le Mans 2 in all but name. Not top 50 material though.

This whole thing started due to an argument about whether FF7 was any good or not. I'm impressed that people are still trying to argue that it isn't.

I agree. Adventures and RPGs should be kept separate. But Civ IV should be merged with I and II.

FF7 bored me rigid. I struggled through about four hours of it then gave up to go play something more compelling. I think it was ball-in-a-cup.

At least one and possibly both of the GTA and Halo series are missing out on the list entirely.

Again, I'm not sure. Civ IV got a lot more votes than any other version combined, so shouldn't it stand alone as a Top 10 game?

That's what i meant. Merge them all and the one with most votes is showed.

I voted for Civ 4 as I guessed it would get the most votes and wanted to vote for a Civ game without it being a wasted ballot, as it were. Personally I couldn't tell you the difference between them all off the top of my head if you asked me... but I love them!

I'm still of the opinion that none of them should be merged (unless they are the same game, ie. Fatal Frame and Project Zero). What if someone loved Civ 2 and hated Civ 4?

Hmm, I still think some kind of system is needed. Even if it's .25 votes per vote or something from the lower games.

I agree. Everyone has a preference - though it does have a tendency to dilute votes.

I think this could be a workable system. So Civilization IV would get 41.25 points. Final Fantasy VII would get 48.5. It would take a while for us to calculate, but might seem a bit more sciency than what we've got so far.

some of the early gb games are translated by fans.. advance 1 gb remains the best though, didn't i vote for it, i guess not

Well Resi 4 was close to the top of my list , so if it was close to the top of *anyone* else's it would have been on the table and since its not been i'm thinking its the winner.

(edit after checking I gave it 8 , so if it got 3 points anywhere else it would have already been on the table)

Surprised Resi 4 won. I've never played it, it never really made a splash to me, and I don't hear much talk about it on here.

I played it on the gamecube , it was also available on :

Wii (for a remake with light gun control bits)
PS2
PC (suppose to be terrible).

It was the main reason for owning a gamecube , a game which really showed off what the system could do , and one of the first long games which i played through , then went back to the start and went right through it again.

Its also i think the first game i bought more than once (US import version , which i sold on to get the UK version which had some extras) and i'm still considering when i see it cheap picking up the wii version

We do if people start saying where they put it in their lists.

I didn't put it in my list as I haven't got out of the first village.
