Aren't Rolls Royce Cars and Rolls Royce Engines and Turbines and Junk totally different now?

Anyway, jolly good luck old chap, and if you do get it, JC will want your staff discount on a Trent 1000 to power his PC's cooling fans.

They have been for years. Rolls Royce engineering is a fucking impressive company. Rolls Royce motorcars is a licence of the name used by BMW to make the cars.
There was a fantastic documentary on Rolls Royce engineering on TV about six weeks ago. It was impressive stuff and I highly recommend anybody with the merest interest in engineering try and find it on the internet and watch it.

Here you go.

It was about the Trent 1000 engine for the Airbus A380, wasn't it? At least, the thing I saw was. Mental physics, design and engineering. But ultimately still bolted together by a few blokes in a shed.

Edit: Ah, yeah, there you go in the edit.

I think Boeing's new 787 Dreamliner is currently delayed due to RR isn't it? Or at least they're trying to blame them for it.

Oh, was it for the Dreamliner? Some gargantuan plane or other, anyway, and worth a watch.

Yeah, I saw that documentary too; awesome engineering. Makes you proud to be British; at least we can still do something meaningful and hard, properly and with all good investment and immense expertise, that doesn't involve insurance price comparison sites, lending people money or suing them.

Mind you, I guess I would say that, as an engineer. Check out this link that someone sent me ages back, made me laugh anyway. Classic. :)

I go to college with the apprentices from BAE systems and was incredibly jealous when they started talking about jet engines and stuff, but then when they started talking about their apprenticeship and they are basically just getting trained as technical operators so I felt q bit smug.
Then I started Reading about the RR engineering apprenticeship and I felt very jealous again. What a start to your career if you're 16 or 17 and walking into that. Best of luck Mr Chris.
Anyway, I'm not an engineering/electrical apprentice anymore. My new site doesn't do multi skilled MAs and have streamed me into electrical, it was all finally sorted and confirmed properly this week :) one day I'll be a kalmar!

Not in the context of people confusing "taxpayer" and 'government", which was my point in the original discussion.
