PR, although important, is not quite as important as a lot of people think! But it's a decent measure of a site's quality according to Google, sure.

Yeah relevance is an important factor, but the search engines don't completely discard an irrelevant link, it's just worth a bit less.

Well, no it wasn't a bad idea. You asked-obviously Grim wasn't so opposed to it because he didn't say 'no' outright. I'm sure if it was that bad he would have done so. By leaving it up to people on the forum (who use it) then he's ensuring it won't pee people off having it, thusly everyone's happy then. And people aren't overse to it looking at the poll count
