You dick. I'd be sorted in all the groups except my own!

Now tally last week, slave!

Yeah, I rather idiotically decided to use google docs for my working spreadsheet, which I can't get any access to at work. Tonight!

Blimey. A fine subject for pun-related whimsy in Group 1 next week, then.

Week 6 results, finally! Still plenty of competition for those top two spots in each group.

As I believe was pointed out last time, the sitar is the most popular instrument in the world.

Week 8 turnout is piss poor, so you've got another 24 hours. Put some effort in, you lazy shitfucks.

A suggestion for next time: larger, but fewer groups, everyone gives a theme when they enter, prepare the full slate of themes before it begins, and disqualify anyone who fails to enter a song for one week.

Week 7 scores! There's still plenty of competition in the top two slots of each group. Week 9 will be the top two from each group, no themes. If you think you've got a chance of getting through, make sure you submit a song. Er - except that you can't at the moment, I don't think. Working on it.

Entries for week 9 are now open on the site! If you go through to the next round and you don't have a song submitted it's an automatic knockout, so get choosing!

I can't find the themes for week 9. Can you start posting these in a single proper location rather than spread throughout a random thread? My preference would be in the first post of either this thread or, ideally the "Rules and Instructions" thread so everything's always in one logical place.

There aren't any, Victor. And where there are, they're always in this thread - try looking two posts up from yours.

You're right that Craster's previous post mentions the lack of themes for week 9. I'm still right that posting this information in a single location would be easier than scanning through all the posts in a thread looking for the info. So we both win!

You are right. They were supposed to be up on the site itself, but the one time I tried making it do it, it wiped all the list of users who were playing :S

So rather than fix it, I just threw them in here :) No more themes now. It's just head-to-head for the ones that make it through.

It would be nice to have them on the site itself but I can see how that would be a real pain in the arse (especially as they're all group specific) so it's certainly not worth coding for. It's easy enough just to stick them all in a single updated post in a thread though so we should probably do that if you can ever be bothered running this again for us ungrateful fucks. :)

Craster learned PHP and the jQuery library just to run Song Wars. I uploaded all the stuff (and changed bits to make it faster, although it all worked), installed the php-xml library on the server to make Craster's code work and messed with the MP3 uploading system that I built into the forum so it would be happy to run outside the forum's directory.

We're a disgrace, Cras. We must try harder. People are having to read!

Go on then, I'm trying to do something really hard at work and I need distracting. Explain how exactly it was missing the point?

Because the posting, or not, of themes in a single place has nothing at all to do with how much coding was required to get the submission side of it up and running.
Because your rant was aimed at a straw man who actually called anything a disgrace or said you should try harder or implied it was a hardship to have to read things (as opposed to me who said none of those things).
Because the fact that 99% of the whole thing works in a genuinely awe-inspiringly smooth and easy fashion doesn't somehow mean that you should totally reject an idea to improve another aspect of the setup when it's utterly trivial and requires no real effort. (Whether you agree with my suggestion is another matter entirely of course.)

Mostly though because I was simply trying to point out a potentially easy improvement with no malice intended and even self-deprecatingly referred to myself as an ungrateful fucker specifically to signpost that fact that I wasn't having a go and you came in swinging anyway. Which is galling because it makes out that I'm being a dick when I'm not.

Either way, I presume you think I'm attacking you and/or Craster here and I'm genuinely not so I'm sorry if that was the impression I gave because it would properly upset me to have you guys think I wasn't appreciative of all the hard work you've put in here.
