Any song containing the line "Give it to my mum D-de-de-der-der doggie style" has to get three points.

Man, totally forgot about The Bloodhound Gang when submitting my song. "A lapdance is so much better when the stripper is crying" would have been perfect! :D

The Bloodhound Gang song is a good song, however is practically a hymn compared to the most of their work.

Indeed, certainly wouldn't have been my first choice for an inappropriate BHG song :)

Saw them live about 10 years ago, awesome!

Surely the Bloodhound Gang song is the punishment song? It's awful.

Like, worse than Poison awful.

That Bloodhound Gang song is brilliant, and anyone who doesn't like it should have their ears revoked BY JESUS HIMSELF.

I'm a bit surprised nobody chose a song by Anal Cunt.

Sir Mix-a-Lot:
Classic track. So ingrained into my psyche that every time someone says "I like..." I automatically think of it. As Jamie Redknapp might say, top, top song.

Span Productions:
Impressively rubbish.

Spinal Tap:
That movie was a grower on me; it's definitely one that works better when you already know the jokes, if you know what I mean? Great track, and I always loved the lyric "Big Bottom, Bog Bottom/Talk about bumcakes/My girl's got 'em". Definitely in the running for the points.

Bloodhound Gang:
I could write an essay about this song. At the end of the day, I just don't 'get' it. It's musically weak, and the lyrics make The Shaggs look like Bob Dylan. Oh wow, we know euphemisms for sex! Let's just repeat those, and then we'll... actually, know. Let's just say them over and over and over. I really just don't understand the point of this song existing, other than to make seven year old boys giggle.

Dresden Dolls:
Only one of the group that couldn't be considered a 'joke' song (though perhaps I am harsh on Sir Mix-a-Lot). Love the piano, enjoy the story, it's getting points.

Lonely Island:
I appreciate that this is a video/song combo, but listening to it without the video makes it not work. At all. With the video, much better and kinda funny.

Points to Spinal Tap, Dresden Dolls and Sir Mix-a-Lot

Do you not hear the words if you don't watch the video, then?

Well, the song words aren't very funny on their own, and the music is rubbish. If you add in visual comedy then it becomes a bit more amusing, as the words are given some more context in terms of the asshats singing it.

It's the kind of thing people would watch a video of rather than listen to the MP3.

I am having "Song Wars Confusion". Do you go for the best song, or the song that best fits the theme?

The best song. Or next week we have to decide what best fits 'abstraction' as a theme, and fuck that.

But not in group B this week?

No. It's somewhat different if the theme is 'The worst song'. Besides, I said so in the group B topic.

I've been watching a few of The Lonely Island's videos. They are pretty funny, but I wouldn't buy one of their albums.

Sir Mixalot - Well, it's certainly inappropriate. It's also rubbish.

Span Productions - I have the sneaking suspicion that this is the sort of thing deranged serial killers hear all the time. "Willy bum bum! Willy bum bum! Kill kill kill killkillkillkill!" All work and no play makes Willy Bum Bum a dull boy.

Spinal Tap - Well, at least it's funny.

Bloodhound Gang - Cunts. And unfunny cunts at that.

Dresden Dolls - It's the best song so far. It's going to give me nightmares, but at least the tune's nice enough.

Lonely Island - Oh, go on then - three points.

Well, I'm off for a chemical bath after that lot. Congratulations to Lonely Island, with the Dresden Dolls taking second and... Spinal Tap coming from behind (ooer!) to snatch third.
