Otis get's my vote by writing a song about his pecker.

The Otis reading song was fun. Yelle was okay, but then went wierd. Sugercubes reminds me a bit of Micheal Jackson, for some reason. It's innoffensive, but it's a bit bland. Is it Bjork? Vile Electrods... I don't like that at all. Sorry. Unless it does something very clever in the next minute, of course. It didn't. Sheep is a good song, I've always liked the Housemartins. I vote for Sheep!

Definitely The Sugarcubes for me, loved them at the time, still love them now.

Also, Bjork, good god she's lovely. (I know we're not voting for who we fancy, but come on, Bjork, I'm getting all of a flutter.)

Otis song was alright but a bit sort of old fashioned and not my type of thing.

Really quite liked the Yelle track, needed to be a bit more tuneful though, 2nd place I think.

Vile Electrodes track didn't work for me.

Housemartins? Not bad, but better when they became The Beautiful South.

WTF ? You clearly haven't listened to much Housemartins.

TBS were great, but the awesomely raw excellence of the Housemartins was something else.

TBS > The Housemartins.

The Housemartins were really good, but 0898 is an album of almost peculiar brilliance.

Sugarcubes - had completely forgotten about that song. Cheers for reminding me anonymous pop-picker.

Yelle- have to agree with Grim..., starts of entertainingly then the synthy organs of doom takeover. Made it feel a bit less fun than it started out.

I liked Yelle's music but not her vocals.

Otis - Yeah, I like this sort of stuff, but is it enough to get my vote?
Yelle - Ah, dammit, electronica. I like it.
Sugarcubes - Too much Viking rap.
Vile Electrodes - Ah, emo electronica. Nah.
Housemartins - See, I like happy, bouncy pop music like this. But I don't like this for some reason.

It's going to have to be Yelle then.

Otis Redding
Funky! Not one of his I'm particularly familiar with, but I like it.

Yelle
Not a band I know much about. Some interesting sounds and a cool rhythm at the beginning. I enjoy the vocals, even if they're a little on the odd side.

Sugarcubes
I remember my brother buying this when it first came out. If you want to hear a bad cover of this, check out the one from the Diana Vickers album, but at least she gets credit for picking a fairly odd song for a cheesy pop album. Anyway, this is as fun as I remember, though the quality of the upload is a bit patchy, and makes all the percussion very tinny. Still, top pop tune.

Vile Electrodes
I almost really like this. I think it's got a good tune and I like the vocalist, but equally I think it doesn't make as much of it as it could... and sometimes her voice is annoying in the way she speaks the words rather than sings them. It might not get my vote, but I think it might be a bit of a grower. Indeed, by the end it's actually moved up in my estimation. It has a good chorus.

Housemartins
Blimey, I know they have their own distinctive sound, but this is really very similar to 'Happy Hour'. I like both TBS and the Housemartins, but this wouldn't be my personal pick from their catalogue... that said, it's good to see the person who chose it not going for the obvious option, and for that I applaud them.

The pick.

I am going to surprise myself and go for the Vile Electrodes. It really grew on me during the play, and by the end I was quite smitten with it. I would have gone for the Sugarcubes and Yelle as my second and third choices were we Eurovisioning it.

Otis Redding - Funky, but far from his best.

Yelle - A catchy slice of electronica.

Sugarcubes - I liked them back in the day. This song is okay.

Vile Electrodes -Hmm. Not sure I like this at all, really.

The Housemartins - this song doesn't do anything for me whatsoever. They made some good songs, but this isn't one of them. At least it's short.

I voted for Yelle.

My risky strategy of going for an unsigned act I really like didn't work, but at least some other people thought it good.
