The scores are (winners in bold):

Mark X ( The Hold Steady - Stay Positive) - 5
Sheepeh (Lucky Boys Confusion - Something to Believe ) - 6

Rodafowa (Billy Bragg - St. Swithin's Day) - 3
imtypingonakeyboard (Bomb The Bass - Bug Powder Dust) - 13

Spinglo Sponglo! (Björk - Big Time Sensuality) - 7
Bluecup (Mexican Institute of Sound - Escribeme Pronto) - 8

Zardoz (The Cure - How Beautiful You Are) - 10
Mimi (Mercury Rev - Holes) - 9

A lot of close races there, with only one match-up being decided by more than a single vote. The main shock along the way would probably be Mimi, who finished top of the group stage overall vote, being knocked out by Zardoz, who'd finished twelfth. This means that, were this a World Cup, Mimi would be The Netherlands. The main non-shock would be that I'm out. The Hold Steady are great, you lunatics! A comforting cup of tea awarded to Rodafowa, who either badly misjudged the popularity of Billy Bragg, or who was unlucky that Tim Simeon is so popular 'round these parts.

All this means the line up for the big semifinals is:

Sheepeh vs Bluecup
imtypingonakeyboard vs Zardoz

As mentioned previously, the Song Wars is taking a Christmas break, so voting for the semi-finals will begin on the 27th of December. Providing, that is, that the semifinalists all submit songs in time.

I wanted to go out of the competition with a song I love unreservedly. Picking Billy Bragg meant I was pretty likely to do so. :D

Congrats to my worthy opponent, and thanks to Mark for doing such a great job organising the whole shooting match. I look forward to watching the next two rounds from the sidelines.

Why didn't group A band together and ensure our representatives went through? Shame on you all!

(Yes I didn't vote for either of them either but that's not the point..)

I always support The Netherlands when England are being rubbish, therefore I am OK with being all Hollandish, or Dutch, if you'll have it that way.

I'm a massive fan of the Bragg, so it felt bad to kick it in like that:/
