It's a lovely day at Excellent End. The sea is warm, the sun is out, no-one is complaining about things the town does or doesn't do or the people that run it - perfect. It's no wonder a certain bunch of people have chosen it for their annual AGM and summer holiday.
Any minute now, Wolverine will be back with the ice cream for everybody. It's a strangly quiet day, with only a handful of locals at the beach, so it shouldn't take him long. Someone in the sea is messing about on a jetski. Awesome! You'd love to have a go at that. You stand up and look around for someone renting the things out, you've got some spare cash, maybe someone GUNSHOT!
Who the Hell is shooting people on a day like this? Everyone runs up the sand toward the town centre, until the person at the front falls face-down onto the floor. What's that they slipped in? Ice cream? Oh God, it's Wolverine's body, surrounded by tasty frozen treats! His head is missing, and, on closer inspection, it seems like he's been shot with a carbonadium bullet.
Someone has killed Wolverine! The supervillains must be here too, but no-one is in costume!
Who is who?

I'm obviously not nerdy enough for this. Can you kill wolverine just by shooting him?

I never liked Wolverine anyway. Appalling table manners.

Whooo! Good morning, good people! This promises to be an exciting day.

Man, I had the weirdest dream. I dreamed I was Doctor Doom. The awesome one from the comics, not the crap one from the film. Then I woke up to another humdrum day of car stereo repair.

Well hopefully we can agree up front that a lynch is, as always, a good idea. Then it's basically a case of picking someone who smells a bit odd.

We MUST lynch every time we have the chance. The baddies have three killing roles. If we sit on our hands we're boned.

Three killing roles? I only make it two.
They can kill with Doctor* Doom OR investigate. Then perform one other henchman role, which can be either kill or investigate. Is that not correct?

I don't know about you, Bobby (if that is your real name), but I count the Serial killer as a baddie.

Yeah, I think he is.

Also, the potential creation of Ghost Rider and The Punisher may well inject some caution into the villain's night actions.

Okay, yeah, but the SK is just as likely to off them as us. And (this is confusing me!) the SK wouldn't cause the Punisher and Ghost Rider to exist, right?

There are some words in the sand, but you can only understand one of them. It says 'wrong'. The other one says viewtopic.php?p=214595#p214595 but who knows what that means?

Okay, so we kinda almost want the SK to kill their other halves*, that way we get two more killing roles.
is that right? Jeez.

*Unless that's me, don't kill me.

I don't think the other halves know who they are though, so they can't run around trying to make themselves obvious targets. Also although they become town-based killing roles, they'll be effectively unguided so could be just as much danger to us as to the villains.

Afternoon , some POTW worthy entries on the first page - and i wonder if Wolverines demise is due to the leaking of his new biopic on the interwebs last week.

There are loads of roles in this game (including all the sub ones) so its going to be very tricky for a while just to work out some of the combinations.

Fair enough, but their win condition remains town and they don't HAVE to kill.

Quite - we don't want to sit around and do nothing, but the town can potentially have some very powerful roles *if* things go our way. The villains can kill up to 3 people in a night, but can that way swing things to us if they just kill indiscriminately. There looks to be scope for some entertaining role-claims, too - Ironman can't be killed at night, for instance, so is there any reason for him not to show himself early on?

[ooc]Interesting idea but aren't there a number of 'hidden roles' and event driven variables that may mean that wouldn't be a good idea?[/ooc]

I was Iron Man in the first roll and was really pleased about it. I was going to roleclaim the moment the game started and only reveal what I knew if a good guy was in danger of a lynching. Of course, the secret roles are a danger, but I thought it would probably be safe.

Of course, I might have roleclaimed and then immediately been killed, leading everyone to call me an idiot.

Again.

Iron Man should only roleclaim if he is in danger of being lynched.

With him hidden, the baddies might waste a kill attempt. With him revealed, they have a 100% chance of killing success (bar for Spidey's roleblock and any secret roles).

I wonder what The Hulk will get up to...

But if Iron Man roleclaims, then there's no chance of any of the good guys killing him (punisher, ghost rider or venom)?

Iron Man can only be killed by a lynch. Or a Grim... secret.

1 - Surely he's unkillable, so do you mean 'waste a kill' on him?
2 - Punisher and Ghost Rider do not yet exist.
3 - Venom would be one cocky SOB to try and kill people at the start of the game.
