Biscuit fishy!

That gargoyle looks suspiciously like one of the guys off Sesame Street.

We went to Edinburgh zoo yesterday and spend some time watching pengums.





They are not particularly stunning pics, but so peaceful, and I love the little trails of broken water from the wingtips of the top guy.

Lovely penguins, Mimi. Especially love the sheen on their backs.

Great pics, Bobbyaro! Fish-mouth is awesome terror, but I don't think it'd be enough to ween me off my addiction to custard creams. Also love the gnarled oaken thing, very strange, and the landscape sunset. Serene.

As I was walking through the park today, I had the scare of my life as a fox cub (ish, toddler more than cub) walked straight in front of me!

He stopped as I jumped, and after me fumbling to get out my phone to take a picture and thinking several times I was going to scare him off, he just cocked his head at me and sat down!

About 30 seconds of very careful trying to sit down silently ensued, eh voila, a good 10 minutes sitting talking to the gorgeous little guy!

He had a bit of a lie down, roll over, power nap, and eventually just stood up, had a huge yawn, looked at me and the trotted off.

I had a very similar close encounter with a fox that used to frequent our train station. I've tried to share the video I took of it from Drop box but I don't know if it'll work.

A couple of months previously when he was much smaller he spent ages on the grass verge across from the train platform rolling around and playing with a ball he'd found which was a cuter start to my morning than I was expecting that day.

Foxes are awesome, and they seem to just love posing.

I once saw two otters run over North Road in Cardiff and into Bute Park in the early, early hours of the morning. Rather magical moment. Otters are doing well at the 'mo. Hurrah!

Do you 'do' weddings, Pete? I've got a colleague who saw your 3BQ pictures and wants you to 'do' hers.

I told her I would ask, but I didn't think so. And then I forgot.

Mrs Grim... said something about books, too. That's not related to the wedding thing.

Gosh, that's nice that she's pondering me for it. I don't do weddings though, or not yet at least. First off I work two in every three Saturdays, so it makes it a bit tricky. Second I don't really have the equipment ( - no, wait) as I only have the D90, flash and a couple of prime lenses - though that will change hopefully by early next year! And third wedding photography is a staggeringly intensive thing involving a day's rehearsal, a full day's shooting and another week post-processing, posting and knocking up books and prints - and I'm not sure I'm fully ready for that. Though I'm always willing to entertain the notion. When's the wedding?

Oooh - and what does Mrs Grimm want to know about books? I'm planning on making a couple, one for America and one for the US Civil War...

EDIT: Oh, wait - I remember. Mrs Grimm and I talked about kids books for five year old. Yup, I'm to make a reading list, that's it!

I think I said in another thread that Russell took me on a surprise trip to the Isle Of Sheppey? I took my camera along. I'm not quite used to it yet and still haven't learned it really, but had a bit of a play, with varying degrees of success.

Mimi, that portrait of Russell is superb. I can almost picture the camera pulling away to show interesting local landmarks as Russell continues with a voice over for whatever coastline based BBC show he's narrating. Most curious abbey as well. And quibbly mistakes you mentioned be damned - the Whitsnade shot is still lovely.

Great new subject matter getting the Pete treatment

Ooh, where's this, Oete?

Starting to go through my holiday pics, and this one of Smerwick Harbour on the Dingle Peninsula, Ireland, really jumped out:

Most of the images from the Saturday's ACW battle weren't up to snuff. A lot of noisy grain and blur oddly enough, with a complete lack of sharpness. Bit confused as to why. Some came out okay though. Here's one...

Still in love with the X100. Still scared of street photography...

No reply yet from Fujifilm, but then it is the weekend. X100 still pretty nifty on lower ISO sensitivities, happy to say. Here's a rather cute wolf.

So I'm going out every lunchtime now to take photos. Reactions to the X100 are way different to my DSLR, rather than shy away hissing as I'm used to these two lads asked me for a portrait!
